Resident doctor for neurology
The position is available in the German state of Hessen. The state of Hessen is situated in west-central Germany and has borders with Niedersachsen, Thüringen, Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz and Nordrhein-Westfallen.
The principal cities of Hessen include Frankfurt am Main, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Offenbach, Hanau, Gießen, Wetzlar and Limburg in the greater Rhine Main Area, Fulda in the east and Kassel and Marburg an der Lahn in the north. The states capital city is Wiesbaden, and its largest city is Frankfurt am Main.
The position is available in the neurology department of an acute hospital. The hospital has around 1.000 beds and it provides medical care to around 550.000 patients every year. The hospital has over 20 departments which provide comprehensive medical services to the patients in need.
The neurology department has over 60 beds and treats over 700 patients yearly. The diagnostic methods of the Department of Neurology cover the entire spectrum of modern neurology.
The department of neurology has the following stations:
- Stroke Unit
- IMC-guard station
- General Neurology station
The Neurology Clinic treats patients with a wide spectrum of diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. These include:
- Strokes and narrowing arteries supplying the brain
- Multiple sclerosis and other inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system
- Degenerative diseases of the brain, e.g. Parkinson syndromes (PD), dementia (Alzheimer's disease)
- Dizziness and balance disorders
- Systemic Diseases (cerebellum / spinal ataxia, dystonia)
- brain tumors
- Pain disorders, especially headaches and back pain
- Neuromuscular diseases and polyneuropathies
Special therapeutic procedures are:
- Systemic and local Thrombolysis of acute cerebral ischemia
- Botulinum toxin therapy
- Special Pain Therapy
Neurological complementary diagnostic methods comprise:
- Electroencephalography (EEG)
- Evoked Potential (EP): (SEP, VEP, AEP)
- Nerve conduction velocity (NCV)
- Electromyography (EMG)
- Extracranial Doppler (ECD) and color Doppler sonography
- Transcranial Doppler (TCD) and color Doppler sonography
Special facilities include:
- Stroke Unit
- recovery room
- Intensive neurology
- Vascular board
- Neurooncology Board
- Skull Base Center
The hospital has full training authorization for conducting the residency training in neurology including one year of training in psychiatry. The form of work required is full time. For the balance between personal and professional life you benefit of 29 days of leave/year. The hospital has also a nursery for doctors with small children.

- Graduate from a Medical School within the European Union + Norway, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Iceland.
- Required German language level: C1
- Enjoys of personal contact with patients
- Has good team-work and communication skills
